Kwajalein Vehicle Paint and Prep Shop

This project required complete construction of a new 18,600 sf vehicle paint and prep shop. Exterior electrical distribution and lighting systems; exterior water distribution, storm drain and sewer systems; cast in place concrete foundations with precast/prestressed wall and roof units; design and installation of structural steel systems and framing; metal roofing; acrylic roof coating; stainless steel doors, frames and overhead rolling doors; interior electrical, mechanical, architectural and plumbing finishes; paint spray, abrasive blast and metallization booths, each containing a networked compressed air ventilation system with in-line exhaust fans and exhaust ductwork with solid state fan speed controllers; stainless steel bird screens and salt filters with access panels installed in ductwork for protection and maintenance access; manufacturer designed breathing air purifiers; administrative office spaces; seismic protection; removal and disposal of hazardous asbestos, PCB light ballasts, mercury containing lamps and contaminated soils; HVAC control systems; premises distribution and telephone systems; supervised fire detection and alarm systems, and wet pipe fire suppression system. Site work included exterior electrical, water distribution and wastewater disposal, grading and pavements. Also demolished 2 buildings (2,544 sf) with concrete slabs and pavements; and cut, capped and removed an abandoned fuel line.
